Making some changes to my set and was thinking about using a overflow box instead of my diy pvc overflow. My question is will the overflow box restart on its own if there is an power outage?

Just from the looks of it, it seems that once the water level drop pass the u tube it is subject to taking in air. Therefor causing a blockage.
They come with a stand pipe that goes in the outside box to prevent it from emptying enough for it to pull air.
