if you lose power, a siphon will empty your tank, an overflow will stop. when power goes back on, an overflow will restart no problem, a siphon will not.

Ah plain and simple I guess thank you. Is this the part about not draining your tank only for surface drawing overflows or can this be applied to ones that draw from the bottom/middle region too? I'll need a small hole for a siphon break for that wont I?
