Im looking for a way to run my sump with just one pump

Is an overflow the only way you can do this?

Whats the cheapest more reliable overflow out there?

Cheapest is a DIY PVC overflow. They can be tricky (mine always seem to have issues but that was most likely my fault in design). Most reliable will always be a box permanently mounted to the system. That has the fewest parts used so least likely probability of failure (most reliable). A good alternative that is in between is a tube style overflow. A CPR is better IMO but are more costly.

I never use any more than 1 pump with a sump.
The pump goes in the sump, pumps water back to the tank, and water flows by gravity back to the sump. I don't know where the idea comes from that 2 pumps are needed.
I have used commercial overflow, tried DIY overflows (with limited success), and now only drill tanks. Drilling is simple, and very inexpensive. Since I started drilling I have done at least 8 tanks, with the same diamond drill bit. Its almost as easy as drilling plywood, and takes no more than 5 minutes to drill a tank. I know glass drilling sounds daunting, but once you do it, you can't believe it took so long to start.

Overflow has nothing to do with pumps.

I prefer two pumps because I can split the gph flow.

You can split the flow with 1 pump. I usually run at least 3 tanks on 1 strong pump with PVC Tees, and valves.
The problem I find with 2 pumps if one is in a sump, and one elsewhere, is if 1 slows (line gets plugged eg), or fails, and the other doesn't, there is water on the floor.
If both pumps are in the sump, no problem, or if you are using it for redundancy.

Sorry, don't understand your question.

I run two in the sump, like Duane says it gives redundancy which is nice. I also like just having one flex PVC line on each pump direct to the return, 3/4" threaded adapter glued on each end. But obviously there is more than one way to skin a cat so do what makes you most comfortable.

Overflows do have something to do with pumps tho you can't use a 1000 gph pump with 1 x 1.5 drain right? You have to keep in mind the ability of your overflow

If you have something to offer to the OP, then do it, but keep me out of it.
