I read abt it many times in fish forums and laughed to myself. Surely this will never happen to me. But I was forced to eat my words last Saturday when my 4ft knife tank overflowed with water during a weekly water change :nilly:

There I was sitting in the opposite bedroom highly engrossed while surfing the Internet, my right foot felt something cold and watery . I looked down and wondered where the water came from. The rate of flow was increasing and I traced the source coming from the other room. Then, it hit me that my tank was overflowing!

Water just kept flowing into the Internet bedroom. Floors of both bedroom was flooded! It took me 4 bucket to clear most of the water, a towel and a pair of strong arms and squatting legs to dry the floor. I actually took a video of it

damn despite my better knowledge I am going to say that this will never happen to me :P but then again u said that yourself aswell. I always use a giant tub on wheels that i first use to get the water out andthen use to get the water back in so the amount of water will never exceed a certain level...

Heheh that's a wise thing to do. My tank is located right next to the master bathroom. So, I use a water hose straight from the tap to fill it up. Convenient? Yes. But this was the first disaster in 5 months after setting up the tank. I just didn't see it coming :D

 I wanna see the video now:ROFL:

that happened to me once. the water flowed over the top of my 29 gallon and it broke the seal and the bracing but duck tape fixed it til' i got some more sealent stuff. probably a poorly made tank lukily i could move all the fish to my 55 gallon right away

It's only funny when it's not you...and then when it does happen to you...it's still funny after all is said and done
