Hey all i recently bought a 210g tank and decided that since the silicone was cracking and peeling (it doesnt leak fortunately) that i would scrape off the old and replace with new.

But it has square overflow boxes and only 1 hole in each instead of the normal 2. I dont really like the look of them and much prefer the aqueon cylindrical ones. The overflows i have now are corners but i would like the inside D shaped ones instead i just cant find them online to save my life.

Also should i ride with the current 1 hole per overflow it has now and just have one side in and one side out or drill a second whole in each side?

thanks

So you want to forsake the corner boxes and install new boxes in the middle portion of the tank? First thing to know is if the bottom panel is tempered cause youre gonna need to drill it for the new overflows of course. Im sure ive seen those boxes for sale online.

Are the old weirs removable? If so just remove them and those corner holes can be plugged or used as auxiliary drains or for other equipment--maybe hard plumb a canister in. Another option is to install your drains without the weir in place. A lot of freshwater keepers do this because there isnt such a need for surface skimming as there is with reef tanks and it maximizes the space in your tank.

Odd that the overflows only have one hole each. How big are they?

Not in the middle just not the direct corner o can reuse the old holes as they are about 4 inches off the sides. If just have the new D shaped weirs kinda close the side of the aquarium. I just can't find a website that sells them.

I already removed the old weirs and I've cut out most of the old silicone just a few stubborn parts to go. I wanna say the holes are inch and a half but I'd have to measure to make sure it was obviously drilled by someone because the weirs were cut to fit the manufacturer silicone that was already in place so I'm sure it's not tempered glass.

1.5" bulkheads or 1.5" holes? 1.5" bulkheads would be great for drains on that tank but 1.5" holes would only work for a 3/4" bulkhead return line. Hard to believe a manufacturer would only put 3/4" drains on a 210.

If they are for 3/4" bulkheads, and this is just what i would do, just leave the corners without boxes and use those holes for returns. You could then drill one or two drains in the middle of the tank. I would probably just go without the box and disguise the plumbing somehow but thats just me. But if you did want the box, you would just have to get one for the center overflow.

But if you're sold on the corner overflows it wouldnt be much harder. You could drill the drains in each corner, and then diy a weir out of a piece of acrylic. Then just straddle the corner with it for a triangular overflow box.

Sounds like a cool project either way.

Yeah I've checked around and I can't find the boxes I want. I want the ones on this tank. The D shaped ones that aren't corners.

The holes might be 2 inches I can't remember I can measure when I get home, like I said it wouldn't be a big deal for me to drill 2 more holes in it I just want the boxes like in the pic.

Why would i have to go to them? they are pretty standard on aqueon tanks i just can't find a store or website that'll sell them... oh well ill just go with the ones that came with the tank and if i feel up to it in the future ill change them if i can get ahold of those overflows

Well try to contact aqueon then. Im sure they have the things lying around. If you could get a part number that would expedite the process im sure.
