It seem like every week I am reading a thread on here where someone ends up for one reason or another with a bunch of water on their floors causeing thousands of dollars in damage. Now, I know most of you on here are very wealthy so it's not a big deal. However, for the rest of us there is a very cheap yet effective alarm available for less then $15 that runs on a 9v battery. Now, it's not going to call you at work and tell you your tank is all over your floor, but it will wake you up in the middle of the night or summons you in from the backyard to tell you that you have fish on the floor. It's available at Lowes by the sump pumps and it looks like this! It sits upright and when the 2 bottom probes get wet an alarm sounds. Now go out and buy one! Home Depot may have it as well but I dont shop there!
