I was tired of my canister filter so decided to try my hand at an overhead sump. So far it has worked well. Holds heater, plants and plenty of bio media. Completely silent too which I like. Now I want to clean up the intake part of it which is now basically just a 750gph pump floating. I was thinking of suction cupping the pump to the bottom of the tank and running hard plumbing up to the filter. What would be the best way to attach pvc to the pump? Also considered running an external pump which I still might do. Any ideas on what I can do or improvements overall to the filter? Thanks

Also, since the pics were taken I changed a couple things. Added a filter sock and planted pothos roots in seachem matrix.

You did a great job with the Overhead planter sump! You could customize the pump intake with pvc coupling or hose.

Very nice. Why not have used the old canister to feed the planter? Where did you get that btw? HD or Lowes?

The canister was a POS and I would like to get rid of canisters completely on all my tanks. I got it from Lowes. HD doesn't have the right ones.

Cool. I'm off tomorrow so I might copy your style and rig something like this up.

What did you use as bulkheads on the planter box?
That's an awesome overhead planter sump, I have always wanted to do one.
