Hi,

I have a 180gal with a 20gal sump a Penn Plax Cascade 1500 canister and an Eheim Pro. canister. I want to get rid of the sump...... replace it with an FX6. Would it be overkill to add an FX6 to this tank?

-Silver Aro
-2 x Pck Bass
- 2 x birchirs
- red sev
- 2 x plecos
-2 x hopolo cats
-rapheal cat

Is that the current stock? more filters are almost never unwelcome

It is.. They are all small, with the silver being 6 inches, Bass 4inches

You will be fine adding the Fx6 eventually bio-load will increase as the fish grow.:) If possible add some of the seeded media from sump and place it in the Fx6 .

I would say just keep the sump

Why not? You don't have any flow sensitive fish that I can see.

Perhaps look at correcting the noise issue with a sump to an acceptable level? The benefit is save money for other things and you have a place for equipment. Of course I have no idea how your sump is set up so maybe not possible. But having a sump doesn't mean you should have to put up with any noise.

Ehhhh, i've done the sump thing for a while now.. I'm done with it. It is convenient ,but i like the canisters better

I would keep the sump but it's your decision and there is NEVER OVERKILL in term of filtration.
