Overrated / Underrated Fish ?

In your opinion, what are the most overrated and underrated fish in the hobby?
Remember, just because a fish is popular doesnt mean its overrated and vice versa.

Im talking about fish that a lot of people are getting and raving about and but you dont see what the big deal is and for underrated , a fish that you think is very exciting but nobody or not as many people share your enthusiast for that specie(s).

Lets see if theres a common fish that we all agree on as overrated and underrated.

Overrated : Piranhas, Specially RBP's ,some Pikes ( Peanut dont kill me ! ), Fowleris and Hoplias ( wolf fish )

Underrated : Monster Plecos, Most sp of Perch and Quality Goldfish. :)
 
piranhas are overrated, and i own one.

underrated....rare plecos, bumblebee grouper i guess (no one says anything about them but they look cool as hell)
 
Hmmm...that's a good question:

Overrated: Doviis, Piranhas, and Wolf Fish

Underrated: Clown Knives, Goldfish, and Oscars
 
So far we are all agreeing on Piranhas. I guess its the misconceptions that
all lay people have about how piranhas are super aggressive etc..
 
i would have to agree 100% with the piranha being overated.....i also believe that oscars are really, really,.....really overated.

underated fish = clown loaches (even though most everyone likes them, they are still underated)....the more you get, and the bigger they get, the funnier they act. another underated fish is a regular shovelnose....everyone i have ever had has had great character and always sits in really funny positions like straight up and down.
 
overrated - Piranhas

underrated - ranchus (goldfish)
 
over - piranhas, pikes, fancy plecos

under - oscars, clown loaches, and goldfish
 
over - silver aro, dats, flowerhorn, blood parrots, very fancy goldfish

under - convicts, JDs, angelfish, cory cats, koi, firemouths, comet/shubunkin goldfish
 
Under: GOLDFISH....most have great personality and happen to be beautiful

Over: Piranhas (not as aggresive as everyone thinks)....Oscars (really messy and OVER priced!)
