I have a 180gal tank that in my opinion is way overstocked. this is the first time i have done this since i knew alittle something about fish keeping.this is what i got 2grammodes 2 tomo asfraci 3cons 1feaddy cenote escondido 2 festea 1dempsey 1vittata pike 1 semifasciatus pike1 belly hopper pike . i also have a green terror who is the chosen boss of the tank at about 6inches. ichose this fish as boss because in my experience they keep the peace in a tank more of a bully than a killer.all other fish are between 2 and 4 inches.oh i also have 2 fenestratusin a 55gal at 1.5inches. my question is what would you do with the tank setup .. take out all decorations, so theres no territory,or add many hiding places ..thanks for any suggestions

If your fish are in the size range of two to six inches then it's certainly not overstocked. If there aren't aggression problems I wouldn't change things. If anything, you should add more hiding places (decor). The Malawi crowding method doesn't work with CA cichlids; you just wind up with one dominant fish and the rest cowering in the corners of the tank.

:iagree: I also used to have an overstocked tank coz my other tank cracked and was irrepairable. The fish were all in each others' faces and the smaller fish were freking out and trying to hide. I added more bogwood and palnts and voila - no more probs. U need to get a bigger tank eventually coz the fish will grow, but for now add more hiding places. :D
