Got my order from Ken at Fishfarm today:D It was nice to finally place an order with him and it couldn't have gone any smoother. Well, except for almost throwing out two Trimacs. The bags leaked somehow only on these two guys and they weren't moving or breathing. After taking a few pics to show Ken I went to wash my hands and both bags jumped. I quickly put them in the tank with the rest and they're doing great!!! Man, they're tough, there was only enough water left to keep them moist. Every one of them is swimming around and ate already so I'm happy.

Here's one of the pics I forgot to delete of one of the survivors:

My 72 is grossly overstocked at the moment with 6 Trimacs, 2 H. Carpintis and 2 Yellow Heads. Sounds bad but it looks pretty empty in there...for now. No worries, I'm just growing out some keepers for my 150g. Only other fish in there are some giant dainos and yoyo loaches.

Yellowhead (Couldn't get a pic of both, one is super tiny):

Should be fun watching them grow out. Curious to see if they get along and for how long. Mainly, I want to see the difference between the Trimacs from Ken and Rapps. One thing I never knew until I asked was that Ken's Trimacs are F1's :headbang2 They're not much to look at now but I'll post updates as they change.

they look clean for being newly acclimated!

I think overstocking with young fish is a plus - it lets you root out the fast growers to hang onto by promoting more rivalry between the fish.

Get some high protein foods and do daily water changes - you'll see huge growth rates, if you've got the time.

Thanks. I did the very same thing with the Trimacs from Rapps and you really do see good growth out of the strongest of the bunch. I'm feeding them NLS Thera+A and plan on two water changes per week. I do my water changes at night so I couldn't do them daily with the two little ones. My daughter loves yanking on the python while I'm vacuuming, such a fun game let me tell you. Sure glad the rest of the tanks are in the basement:)

Nice Demetrios! Can't wait until they are bigger, I know of someone who wants a yellow head and escondido.:D

I like the pattern on this one the best - though arguably it may not be one of the "desired" traits. Its amazing to see the transformation of an almost colorless fish into something as beautiful as a full-grown Trimac. I like the choice of substrate also, I think it brings out the colors in a full grown Trimac even more.
So how many Tris do you have right now?:)

Thanks, I'm looking forward to them getting bigger. Looks like an empty tank right now.

I wonder who that someone might be:naughty:

I noticed that one too, he/she is the only one showing spots on the body beside the tail fin which they all have. I know what you mean, they're so dull and drap, except for the red eyes, that you appreciate the transformation so much more when you get them at this size.

Substrate is just pool filter sand with some river rock substrate mixed in. Got the idea from Japes' tank. I think it made it look more natural this way than just sand.

Right now I have 9 Trimacs. 6 @ 3/4" to 1" - Fishfarm, 2 @ 4" males (soon to be only 1, thanks Rob) - Rapps, and one lonely female at 3 1/2" from Rapps also that I can't bring myself to selling. She grew the fastest and ran the growout tank until I moved her. She was really dominating and still holds her own against her brothers now. Not sure what I'll end up doing with her. Unfortunately I lost my 10" Male a couple of weeks ago to bloat (I believe). Really miss that guy:cry:
