shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Ok, I know this is frowned upon, but post your overstocked tanks here. I personally love overstocked tanks, I think they are the most entertaining to have. I had a 90g with 2 6" red devils, 2 7-8" oscars, a 4" jack dempsey, a 13" spotted gar, and a 10" red tailed cat. This was the best fish tank I ever owned. I had it running for about a year, and there was always interactions between the fish and a lot of activitiy. The fish would fight, but none ever got seriously injured, none of them died, if one would overstep its bounds itd get hit a few times, and in all it seemed like they had an established community and respected each others presence. I moved and couldnt bring that tank with me, and have since given away all those fish, but that is the best tank I ever had and at some point in the future when Im more established, I will build up another overstocked cichlid tank.

Report back to us in a year or two when the RTC is the entire length of the tank and just sits there eating and crapping. Then lock yourself in a coffin, eat and crap for a week and let us know how that feels too.

I guess my tank could be overstocked:

120 (60x18x26) 1 AC110, 1 Penguin 350, 1 c360 cannister filter

22 Datnoids (in sig, only two above 7", most are small)
5 Royal Pleco (2 over 7")
1 Silver Arowana (12")
1 Silver Dollar
1 Flagtail
1 Synodontis Petricola
1 Texas/Parrot hybrid

that's all I can remember.

I personally think overstocked tanks irresponsible. I find it much more entertaining to let the fish have room to stretch out and make the tank their home. But that's just my opinion.

I bet your fish that you had in your 90 were glad you had to get rid of them. How did you keep nitrates down? 90% water changes daily?

interesting tank. i had a temporary overstocked tank when i put aaaaall my fish that were in my 55gal in a 10gal bc they were eating all the baby cons.. i already had a chinese algae eater & 2 goldfish in the 10 i added 3 silver dollars, a 6 in bullhead, 2 4 in spotted cats & a 6in ck. it was only like this for a couple days though...

look, i know that eventually the RTC had to go to a bigger tank, because of course there is a limit to overstocking. I gave him away to someone who had a 300g to let him go to a better home, but I think people are too quick to attack overstocking. There is a difference between a tank where the fish have no room to turn around(thats why I ended up giving away my gar), and a tank where there are too many fish.

In my opinion both are irresponsible.
