anyone here have any experience with keeping an owl or how to get one in the states? they are sooooo damn cool

Its illegal to have them in the United States. To have one you must have a license and be rehabilitating the owl, their are a couple other ways the have one but all require permits.

Falconers permits and rehab permits are very different. You can get one on a falconers permit but thats almost more work than a rehab permit. suffice to say it's just not easy regardless of which ever permit path you choose.

Even then only certain species of owls can be used in falconry and in some states its illegal to use any species of owl in falconry.
