:screwy: Is it possible to over oxygenate your tank? I have 2 16 inch wands on the bottom and another 12 inch wand off of the canister filter shooting downward into a 54 gallon corner tank? Will this hurt or help the fish? and will this make my tank cloudy?

It'll be fine as long as the extra movement doesn't hurt your fish.

:iagree:

That amount should be ok.

But to answer your question, YES....you can super saturate a tank. If O2 comes out of solution, it's a good way to off a bunch of fish before you realize what is going on. Even before it reaches that point, high disolved oxygen levels (or any disolved gas levels for that matter) can be too high for fish.

Like zoodiver said, that amount should be fine, but do be careful to watch out for signs of duress. If you have freshwater, an easy and gentle way to add oxygen, is more plants. For saltwater, surface disturbance or air-stones are fine. If you are worried that you are over doing it, remove one of the wands, and adjust your power heads to create more surface breaks. Right now you are ok though.

if you dont have an oxygen diffusor and just a regular air pump

you really cant over oxygnate a tank using a regular air pump

the oxygen levels can only reach equalibrium with the oxygen in the atmosphere

as well as other gases between the water and atmosphere

also salinity and temperature play a part in how much O2 can saturate the water

higher temp water hold less oxygen .

so basically im saying you cant over oxygenated a tank with a regualr air pump and air stone/ powerheads.

but the more aeration the better

It is not easy to supersaturate a fish tank, you could do it with a python or an O2 bottle but that is about it.

I'll have to disagree with this line. You get a filter that starts to pull air, and it will take it beyond the atmosphere levels.
