So I’ve got one of my new tanks up and running (80 gallon frag that’s freshwater). I’ve always ran a bubbler in my sumps and nothing other than a power head and the return underwater in the tank. My question is with the bubbler and the drain hose creating the surface break in the sump, will that be sufficient enough to oxygenate the tank?

You should also break the water surface of the aquarium to help with gas exchange, water circulation and to reduce any surface scum/oils.

What fish are those in the pics?

So the surface is being stirred around by both the power head and the return so there is no dead spots that could build up scum.

The fish are Gourami 6 of them total.

You should be just fine with your set up.

Gouramis are a labyrinth fish. If there's little oxygen in the water they can surface breathe.

But going off what you've said, you will have plenty of oxygen in your display tank anyway.

I wouldn't worry about anything.

The key is surface area when it comes to oxygenating tank water. As long as one has surface agitation to promote gas exchange as well as circulation of water in the tank to oxygenate all locations, one will always be OK.

If you have a trickle filter intake in the sump, you are oxygenating the incoming water. This is good as the nitrifiers need oxygen to do their thing.
