Ozone will efficiently sterilize the aquarium water that it comes into contact with. This reduces the risk of parasite outbreaks and removes dirt before it has chance to de-compose, polluting the system. Therefore the aquariums health is dramatically improved.

When used correctly systems run with Ozone look and are measurably superior. Ozone is the only method which enables redox levels of 300-400 to be reached.

Ozone use IS simple, inject it into the normal air supply of a quality skimmer such as the Amiracle PS4, using Ozone resistant tubing, and run the exiting water through carbon before returning to the main system. Do NOT allow this water directly into your filter and remember to change the carbon monthly. Regularly check for NO residual Ozone in the returning water, and fit a carbon trap to the air escaping from the top of the skimmer. What could be simpler?

redox is best around 400..but if u clean youe reef using bare hands this level can drop from 400 to about 250 in a matter of minutes.. this is not good, for this reason i recomend that when cleaning your reef use a pair of calving gloves most vets carry them . many will even give u a pair free :grinyes:

why does it drop if you stick bar hands in there?

Ozone will also kill you if you mess up.

Having an ORP meter is the best way to measure residual O3 levels coming out of the chamber. I run it after the main filters, but prior to the bio tower. I keep my ORP level around 350. It's pretty low, but some fish are alot more sensative to it than others. (ie sharks and rays).

YEP it's a must

i have a water bottleing company and we add ozone to our tanks... do you know how long it stays active in the water??? i was just curious if i take it directly out of my holding tanks which have ozone pumped into them if it will be benificial to put that water directly into my tanks

Not really. Ozone will work itself out of the water column rather quickly. It's only acting as an oxidation agent. The levels we moniter aren't actually the ozone levels in the water, but the oxidation reduction potential (ORP). That number is something that is a depiction of what the waters ability to oxidize waste produces is. Adding ozone increases the ability to break down the matter than we are trying to remove from the water. It's like a natural steriod.
