hey guys,

ive had my ozzie lung for about 4months now... got him when he was around 4.5" long and he is now around 8"...

my question is this...i currently have 2 endlicheri bichir around the same size... if not a tiny bit bigger... housed in a different tank...

the lungy lives in harmony with other bottom dwellers atm and nothing has gone missing, both small and large...he seems quite placid ( for now,lol)...the bichir however i am not too sure of...they arent overly aggressive, however "placid" they are def not...

i am wondering if they will be ok together?my initial thought is, prolly not...:irked:

just wondering if any1 has tried this and what was the result??

Cheers guys,

ahhh oddball, i new you'd reply...

ok, kool... maybe ill give it a go....

cheers mate..;)

just make sure the size is comparable on the two fish, preferably having the AUL larger than the endlis. endlis tend to be more aggressive than most other bichir species (even subspecies) and so you don't want them picking on your AUL.

i've kept AULs with bichirs before with no problems, but most of those bichirs were smaller than the AUL. i've recently kept my AUL with a large P.e.congicus with no problems at all (and it was for many months), but again, the AUL was the same size or a little bigger.

just something to keep in mind as AULs are quite valuable fish, and you don't want them getting nipped up or spooked by even semi-aggressive tankmates--

yeh, the size issue concerned me, with the lungy being slightly smaller than the endi's...

just out of curiosity ...how much do u guys pay for a AuL over there?

"back in the day" they were $500 each coming out of AU, minimum 5 fish per order plus $250 for shipping to LAX. shipping from that point on was extra, was handling, etc etc...so the individual fish ended up being around $750-$800.

nowadays the fish are at least that much if not more...relatively speaking. until someone starts breeding them successfully/consistently in the states, i don't see those prices changing a whole lot either--

WOW!, i jus spoke with a japenese guy also about this and he says a legit chipped and cert. lungy will cost around $50,000 AU in japan!?!? ( he says they are SUUUUPER rare!) lol

is this true?

as for me... i paid just over $150US ...

i guess that kind of compensates for my endi's which i paid $350each for and my indo dat which i paid $220 for at around 1.5 inches...

cheers,

I guess I got a helluva deal since my AUL ran $450 plus $75 for shipping.

Thank you, they are indeed one of the best fishy in the world, in Hong Kong, they cost something around $1700 US dollars, so $450 is a stunning price to own one....=)
