Hello .. I just picked up a 3" bass from a Lfs which is wierd because they never have any fish worthwhile. I am a big fan of CA and SA cichlids i was wondering if any of you have had succesfull experiences with any species that are maybe less aggressive. I have heard of people keeping them with Oscars but I'm not a big fan of Oscars. Its currently in a 75 gallon will be moving to a 300 when he gets a little bigger. I know there is probably already a thread about this but i couldn't find it.
I will be posting pics of the cool guy tomorrow to see if i can get and id. Any help would be appreciated.:headbang2

You should be fine depending on the sizes of the fish. I've kept mine with rtms, and their known for being plenty aggressive but my bass were bigger than the sa cichlids. You should keep in mind for long term reasons is whats gonna happen when the bass outgrow the cichlids. So before you buy do some research

In our experience, the nice thing about pbass is that they usally don't partake in all the agression bs that some of the other fish do. We've kept ours with all sorts of fish, including motaguensis, dovii, and flowerhorns. The bass will stick up for themselves if they have to, but they rarely engage in any of the "I'm the king of the tank" lip locking bs like the cichlids do. They also get big enough to hold their own and don't really get pushed around. Currently we have our pbass in with a silver arowana, congicus bichir, paratherups synspilum, blood parrot, 2 tiger oscars, and three catfish. The pbass sometimes "fight" amongst themselves, but they never engage with the other fish like that.

all depends on the personality of the cichlid and what species. My buddy had a Midas that we tried introducing into my 240 and almost immediately he started chasing and beating up all my cichla. Also make sure the cichla is a good size before you try this they're very fragile when they're 2-4"

I have a 13" Jaguar who shared with 11" Monos no problem, he is currently with 6-9" Kelberi, Orino and Azul, he does not show any interest in them. All Cichlids have their own personality, just depends on the individual. I agree with Chizzle young Cichla are quite fragile upto about 4" so I would edge on caution what size CA you add with them.
