i will be getting a 180g acrylic within a couple weeks. i want to keep cichla(p-bass) and crencichla(pike) in it if possible? which ones would be recommended. i cant seem to find any info here except ID threads.

Yes just dont let the pike's mouth be bigger enough to eat the PB and it should work out !

how big can i expect them to get? will they outgrow my tank. where can i find pike. i always see cichla for sale but not crenicichla. are pike hard to come by??

thanks

Pikes will work. But, I'll stay clear of the "dwarf" or the other smaller type pikes. Pikes are easily found, Just have to look. Seeing that you live "right there" you probably pick up some over there. Ven sp. Pikes work and are commonly found.

Here is a link that tells you the size and other info about pikes.

thanks for the link. trying to find lenticulata, cincta, cobra or marmorata. my lfs has a "redline" pike for 79.99. not sure what the "redline" is.

www.tangledupincichlids.com Hes got all kinds of pikes, including some really special ones. Ive kept large pikes with cichla before. It works, just keep in mind pikes are pretty aggressive. I had a 14" Lenticulata for quite awhile, and he was the king of the tank.

Pikes and cichla can be housed together but be aware that cichla will eat anything that fits in their mouth and that Pikes are nasty and you may notice bite marks taken out of the fins of your cichla. It will work both ways with these guys.

Idk but there both awsome just get them
