My peacock bass was but a tiny creature when I bought him. Today he is a bit over 6 inches. When I brought him home he would eat only rosey reds and tiny gold fish. Eventually with starving him I managed to get him onto frozen table shrimp!! Now what I'm wondering, is this an o.k. diet? It's all he will eat. The oscars that he is housed with will eat shrimp, pellets, beef heart, seaweed. Anything that hits the water. The peacock bass, shrimp only. He's feed every other day. And now he's to the size he can take whole shrimp no problem. Just wondering if the diet is going to be ok.

I'd try and vary it. Imagine if you ate only hamburgers all the time....look at all the other essentials you'd be missing out on. I'd try to get it on a pellet as a staple diet and supplement with shrimp/krill/tilapia.
I'll have to get some food sticks. The oscars love those! I know what you mean about eating the same thing. I've tried to vary things. He turns his nose up, the oscars devour it.
X3 you got him off live...thats more than half the battle. If your Oscar eats pellets, then it won't be long before your bass catches on! IMO the best way to get em off live is to have another fish in with em that eats pellets.arodini;4954504; said:
Getting him off live was a very proud day for me!!! I was quite excited. Now he and the oscars get live as a treat only. And not very often at that. He takes frozen foods sometimes but isn't very happy bout it. Shrimp is his favorite. Tonight I'll stick some pellets in the shrimp and see if he eats it.
how do you stuff the shrimp w/ massivore? I'm having a similar problem with my mono, the others are eating fine.
edit: mono started taking fd krill today, he still spits the massivore though =[
