What is the general attitude and disposition of Pbass towards fish and people. Are they interactive with people? I've had Aro's but never a Pbass, thinking about it.....Are there any special rules in regards to keeping this species?
Thanks-

Meiling,

other than tank space to grow they don't need anything special.. they like things to swim around and tank mates. My big C. Ocellaris is best buddies with our Silver Aro, Pinky..

Lots of folks have them tame enough to pet and feed by hand, i've never done that, but my little orinos are getting close. They all come to greet me when i come to their tanks, even when i'm not feeding them, NONE of them shy away except when i'm rearranging things in the tank or doing water changes.

here is a pic of my Dozer and Pinky..:D

They are pretty easy going fish. Just don't keep anything in the tank that will fit in their mouths. If something is smaller than them, they'll probably try to eat it at some point, even if they won't be able to swallow it down. Other than that, they're great for a large species community.

Thanks for the input-DOOOHHHHHH!!! Now I miss my Aro so bad I can't stand it! Right now I have simplified my tank, everything in there would fit in that mouth. (your p bass!)

I'm hoping in a few mos to get a large tank and get another Aro, but so many people talk about their p bass I thought there must be something special about them.

If your tank is simplified you could get babies. They are voracious predators and are interactive to people. Each pbass has its own personality. But keep in mind they get big and require lots of food. My 9'' orino can eat dozens of minnows at one time, and he'll be hungry again in a few hours. And one important thing is that the temp has to be at least 82, but they prefer higher. And its better to give them feeders until they reach about 6''.

they flooded my living room tried to eat my jar:irked:
other than that they are really good .just picky with the food its better to get them to munch on those pellets in their early stages of their life.
if you are getting some then good luck with them;)

they are special to me.. i'm absolutely drawn to them, i can't get enough. Probably about the way you feel about arowana. Dozer, the guy in the pic is the first one i ever got and he's very special to me.

one of the guys said they can be picky, and that's the absolute truth, we read that before we bought them and we've kept feeding them a variety of different meats and fish pieces rather than live fish.

I believe that feeding meat/fish pieces rather than live food brings the aggression level down in the tank and they are less likely to see their tank mates as food.

I love my pbass. I was told that they would only eat live food but apparently they dont know that. They eat anything I put in the water pellets krill food sticks as well as live foods. I have them growing up in my 125 with a jag pair JD myan and LSN. They are great they mouth when I approach the tank and splash the hell outta me at feeding time. I am planning on 2 azuls if Zoo hooks up the group order. Great fish to own and grow out.

I grew some tems from 6" to about 15" in my 240gal. before I sold them. They were great fish, but I felt they needed a ton more room. They are lightning quick, and were bounching off the tank walls at times. I felt bad for them. :( My 24" silver aro now resides in this tank, and does great, for now. At some point when I get the 815gal. set up, I plan to get some more. They just need a whole lot of room IMO.

Peacock bass are colorful and brilliant game fish, they are nice to keep and watch, active and aggressive cichlids, size does matter in this case as they are voracious eaters, alot of feeder live fish needed but can convert to fresh shrimps, alot of tank space needed as they are territorial too, so go with a large tank volume and good filtration system
cheers!
