hi all,, i am geting mixed reports here,im planing on geting some tems next week(1inc x5) and hoping to keep them for life, can i do this in a 7*2*3. Filtration is not a issue(its massive):)

No...tems can grow to 40". So a 3.5-4' wide tank or larger would be great for life. Of course they will be fine in that tank till they reach the 2' mark...then they will be squeezed to turn around.

Just an additional info here. PBs can make vertical turns and diagonal ones, too. I don't think they'll have difficulty with the two feet dimension when they reach 3 feet, if they ever get there.

I think your immediate problem is getting them to grow bigger than the 1 inch they have. At that size it's much easier to grow them out in a much smaller tank than your targeted one.

JuanTamad is correct, however why would you want to keep a 3' fish in a 2' wide tank....that is like keeping a 16" Oscar in a 55 Gallon...he can turn around, but he would obviously look cramped--its not the optimal arrangement. I have never seen a 3' Pbass in a tank, but DM and others are getting closer-I think DM's is a little over 2'. Keep em in a small tank for now and feed till bigger, then you should go with the 2' wide or bigger.

Everything they posted above is correct, you should be fine for a couple years. they normmaly dont get 3ft in the aquarium but its very possible, just when the time comes you make the choice.

yeah if they do get to that i have got a empty 8*3*3 in the garage, but the good lady might have something to say when she sees the electric bill

Good luck with the expected tems. I think they will be fine in your tank for some time. I dont know that anyone has a 3'+ pbass in a home aquarium. If you get them that big then you can definitely get them a bigger home. You have about 2 yrs to save your pennies. Just tell the good lady its for the fish not you.
