What size does a P-Bass have to be, before it can start mating, and does the pair have to be separated, once the mating process begins.........Thanks in advance.

Well they start mating at a foot but i remember there was a 9 inch pair on here once

Thanks......My P's have at least four to five inches to go, before i have to start worrying about a hundred newborns......

My bass are around 14 inches, and possibly paring up...

And you can expect more than 100 fry

What species are they? Most pbass don't breed till after 18" and tems/other longer bodied cichla don't even attempt until after 22" or so.

Ur wrong...there has been many pairs that are smaller than 18" unless ur talking about maybe tems....then maybe your right but it really just depends on age

the pair in my avatar started spawning at like 12 inches, the female is around 14 now and the male is around 13, they spawned 3 times in the last 3 months, 2 outa 3 had free swimmers

and no it would not be a good idea at all to separate a pair after spawning, both male and female are protective parents
