I have always wanted to get a bp ,the lfs had finally got a few in about 5inches ,but the guy in the store who happens to be honest told me the only eating live food guppys ect.I have 125 gal most fish are average 8to 10 inches ,they never ate live food ,mostly pellets ,frozen shrimp, chiclid sticks.my question is has anyone out there raised pb without feeding live food..any ideas would be appreciated

I have my 5" Orinocensis on massivore delite already. Babies peas grow faster with feeders though. It's not too hard to get them off live. Live foods are best for baby peas though. What are the other fish in the 125? Are you getting another tank in the future?

It takes a little starving them but mine eat frozen silversides(smelts) hikari carnivorus sticks and frozen krill. I have 2 one 12" and one 9" and my smallest one eats anything that hit the surface of the water its 3".

same with your tinfoils, unless they are big consider them gonners! my friend was moving and he did not want his tinfoils anymore so we threw them in my tank knowing the possibility they could be eaten by the peacocks. There were 9 tinfoils about 3" and I had 3 peacocks about 5", all the tinfoils were gone in about a day and a half. the tinfoils did not even fit all the way in there mouths, but they would just attack them, swim around with them part way in there mouths and and just chomp them untill they fit in and went all the way down. Maybe my peacocks are a special case, i don't know.

My PB is is about 12 inches, he only wants live fish, have tried. My LFS said to starve him till he eats but the whole tank is not happy with frozen anyway. All my fish have their little Idiosyncrasies when it comes to eating.

My wife and I were warned about this and have read about it a dozen times but none of our Pbass (15 or so) are picky in the least. They all come from differant sources...some local and others have been shipped. They all eat a variaty of frozen food with no hesitation at all...

My pbass eat anything that hits the water until it hits the bottom of the tank. I just tried tilapia this week and they love it. Just cut it up into chunks and toss it in slowly. They also eat a variety of pellets and other foods. They get feeders about twice a month (but mostly for my enjoyment) they don't do flakes or sinkers. But any food that touches the bottom of the tank gets left there. They dont even observe the 3 second rule (must be all females).
