i have 2 monos, and a tem. they have been eating feeders and bloodworms for the past few months, until i recently bought some krill.
i thought they were eating it, but upon watching them closer, they will attack and swallow it, but then 2-5 minutes later they will spit it back out
its not really a big issue, because i am still feeding them feeders, so they are getting enough to eat. and the krill then becomes 2nd hand food for my catfish...

but still, is this normal for them to not eat it? suggestions?
i can feed them other stuff, its not a big deal, i just found it a little weird

**** just to clarify its SF Bay frozen krill, i thaw them and cut them in half so they are smaller peices ***

soak it in water for a little to get it nice and soft so its not hard and flaky try it then i dont think they like the texture if all else fails just throw it at the water and hope they swallow and engulf it all the way

He's using frozen krill, which is soft when it's thawed. I believe you're thinking he's using FD krill.

I'd try to cut them into smaller pieces. If it's really 2-5 minutes before they spit it out, then it would seem that they're trying to get it down, they just can't manage it. If they spit it out in just a few seconds, it normally means they're just not ready to start eating it yet and you should just keep trying. Also try cutting them to where there are no more curled up pieces. Cut them so that all of the pieces are fairly straight so they can go down more easily.

One more thing... Maybe try pulling the legs off. I think that maybe the fluffy nature of the legs isn't appetizing to them. When I use frozen or fd krill my fish often spit out those kinds of pieces.

sorry i was thinking FD i agree with Danh also let them defrost natureally in the air no water ALL THE WAY Make sure they are not AT ALL frozen.

Try feeding the krill then some feeders? If they're having problems getting the krill down, eating feeders after may help to push it into the stomach.

i have had fish actually throw up after an hour or so. i wasnt able to feed my fish killies (some farm mono i had back in the day) if they spit up in like 2 to 5 minutes, i would say that they never swallow the krill.. try smaller pieces, maybe even feed them less
