I will be getting my first Ray in a couple of weeks - a 6" diam P Motoro this fish is in a friends tank and is feeding well on pellets and prawn but is hassling her Discus I want to put it straight in to my 255gal so it can grow up in there without moving from tank to tank. I am a bit wary of how my 20" C. Ocellaris will react to it the Ocellaris is fine with my other bottom dwellers....I have a 12" Ornate Pim a 16" Plec a P Lapareidae(12") and a P Ornatus(16") and a 12" Pike Cichlid but just wondered if any of you guys are keeping Rays with Cichla and how they get along. Hopefully once I get the Ray in and on the bottom he will ignore it....

Should not be an issue as many people keep bass and rays together but you never know, if you bass wanted to he could try to eat the stingray, or the bass might get a sting all the same, I would just be prepared if you need to separate them or do something else.

My bass never look at my rays and the rays never show interest in the bass, the only thing with the bass is that they produce alot of mess, so make sure your system is able to deal with a messy ray aswell as the bio load from the bass

Yah, Bass should be fine but I would move the pleco. The pollys could also be a problem if they get nippy during feeding time but just keep an eye on them. come to think of it the pike cichlid is probably more of a threat than the P-bass.

I have a 19" bass in with my rays with very little issues. He has gotten stung a few times and bit up by the rays a few times but he has never bothered them

Going to move the Plec into my 6 foot tank.....johno you said your Bass has been stung a few times by the Rays....was going to ask this question...so I take it there is no chance the Ray sting could kill the Bass ?

The ray could kill the bass if he gets him good enough. One of the times my bass got nailed pretty bad and lost his color for a while. I would say it is unlikely the ray will kill the bass

The Pike is a Johanna he is not too aggressive unless a fish gets in his territory then he is ruthless....
