Here are some progression shots of a P. bifasciatus 'Candelaria' I purchased from Dan at Cichlids of the Americas. The fish was ~2" when I bought it in May 2012. Now it is about 6-7".

Beautyfull!

really looking gud

Great color

Good looking color on that guy! I have three from Rapps and the red is less intense than yours. I'm not sure of the collection point of Rapps fish, but the gold is more prominent on mine. I was hoping for more red haha

Your bifas is developing very nicely and looks like mine did when younger. These are 'bifasciatus' Rio Carolino (or Chacamax). They develop very rich reds and gold coloration and are F1s from Rusty Wessel's wild stock. The male is about 12" the female 10".

Jim, those are beautiful Chacamax you have! I've got one as well, but it's younger than my Candelaria (~4.5") and hence it doesn't have the same intensity yet. However, I can tell the red on its head will deeper in color and more solid than on the Candelaria.

Cheers,
Ian
