What kind. I don't lite feeder goldfish. any other ideas?

Guppies... rosies. Rosies are cheaper but live much shorter lives so you can't purchase as many at once. You could try earthworms too - my lap loves them!

Fun earthworm game I discovered: Use one of those big mag floats and get the end of the worm between them inside the tank. It will freak out and start wiggling like crazy - bichirs attack it. Also prevents the worm from burying into your substrate and getting lost.

Can I take eartworms straight from the garden, or should they be quarantined?

you can take then straight from the garden or baitshop, earthworms dont carry any know harmefull diseases

Fresh shrimp with the shell and all wouldn't be a bad idea either. You have large amounts of calcium and protein plus other vitamins and minerals too. Since Polyterids have large amounts of bony plates covering their bodies, this may not be a bad way to go.

bony plates? A well balanced diet using a variety of foods including a good quality pellet, clean warm water are probably your best bet to achieve growth. However remember after a certain size growth tends to slow-Anne
