Now that the Uruguayan pikes and Gymnos are outside, moved & prepared the kiddy pool upstairs to my sons empty room over the last couple days, and today, tossed in the 5 Paretroplus maculatus. They have grown to just under 10" or so over the last 3 years, and spawned many times, but never successfully.

Hoping this move to a more spread out home will facilitate a more natural spawning situation.
There is a bit of a flow along one side, but 2/3 is fairly placid.

Hey Duane,I wish you well with them in terms of spawning in the pond. As you know, Jose (Gonzales) swears by the pond approach to promote spawning of the Madagascans. Are you planning for any Madagascans outside? I was thinking of either some of my young Paratilapia polleni 'Maralambo' that I got a couple of months ago, or putting a big pair of grandidieri or polleni 'East Coasts' out there and see how they do. My pond is now filled with water and the pump and filter are in place, but the temperature last night was 25 F. 'nuff said about that:headshake

It's been cold at night here too, so the way its looking, probably only Uruguayans outside this summer.
And I live only a few blocks from Lake Michigan, which is like living next to a giant air conditioner. A mile west of me there could be temps in the 80s, while my place is in the high 60s if there is a slight breeze from the east.
