Hey Guys, and Girls, Im just trying to get a hold on how many Scobina we have in the US. And this time I am not forgetting you Public Aquariums so please Erica let me know if you know of any.

Does anybody have any mature Scobina from before the ban?

Has anybody imported any CB Scobina pups into the US since the ban?

Where are the Scobinas??

At the symposium, Patricia and Marucio looked at some pictures of a ray that I always thought was castexi that is no longer in our collection. They thought is was scobina. Whoops! I think scobina is probably another species that is way more varied than we thought. Another thing- this was a pretty darn big ray- over 2 ft disc width. I think that perhaps much of what we presumed about this species may be incorrect.

There is a difference between the species scientist call scobina and the scobina we breed here in Germany.

The rays we have breed as scobina are from Xingu and scientist call them orbignyi. These rays stay small, see my signature for more info and pics. The name scobina was used for these rays in the Aqualog.

The "true" scobina (according to the Brazilian scientist) is from Marajo Bay. These rays reach 24" diameter and look very different compared to the Xingu rays.

I would have taken the pair ur selling ... if i had the space/money right now ;)
