I fell in LOVE with bichir a while back, got one and hes the talk when people come over. "it looks like a snake!" "hes so cool!"

anyway, first post here. wanting to know about breeding, i have that senegal, which is roughly 6 inches, and i have two maybe 3inch ones in a seperate tank. the two little ones are fine in their tank, but i want to introduce them to the larger one to breed, so what exactly do i need to do to breed senegal bichir? when should i introduce them? should i have a ratio of male/female? should i get a bigger tank (right now its a 55 long) 5wX1dX28h in. or close to it. also, decor, do they need a "home"? right now there are tons of fake plants and shady places for hiding. but no cave or home. and if you have any other breeding advice, id love it!!! THANK YOU!

I've also heard that breeding bichirs is very difficult. I've also heard, though, that if you do very, very frequent water changes and lower light conditions it's possible, but not probable, but I have never really tried it. I have two ornate bichirs (for about 6 months) and a senegal bichir (for about a year). I have never seen any eggs. They always lay with each other, but that's common for bichirs.
