Hello everyone! I know how to build the P.V.C overflows with the T and the all the 90's, but I was wondering if it would be ok if i used 2 inch P.V.C piping. I right now only own a 29 gallon tank with the sump build out of a 10gallon tank.

The sump is basic made for on sections where the water comes in then falls to section two where ill place a heater, live sand and rocks, and Ill put lights being it so that i can sit sheet over the live rocks that have large holes for the water to fall from. theses sheet will grow algae and are cam be removes in order to cut the algae thats getting to large. The reason for the sheets is to grow large amounts of algae in order to clean nitites and proteins for my water fast can easy. then from the 2nd section is the bubbly trap leading to a powerhead pumping water back to the main tank.

So anyways is 2in pipe ok sents it is only action like a drain NO SIPHON in to the sump

sure but it will take a lot of space in your tank..
your design sounds like a way scaled down alage scrubber, i always wanted to make one when i had my salt tank, how about posting some pics when you get done? or even better as you go!

well i was wanting to use 1 1/2 inch, but 2 inch is the only stuff i can find laying around. this is the for temp. And the sump is not built yet. i used solidworks 2008 to cope EVERY DETAIL of my to gallon tank and just added in the dividers and while i was doing this i was reading that if you want to clean the algae out of the tank that you should raise algae in side a sump and every week after the algae has start grow you clean small areas of the glass NOT ALL because this would release all the nitiates and proteins back into that water instantly. and ofter the algae gets to big in the sump just cut it down so that all the algae can get light or they will die and release nitites and proteins. so i planed to cut slits in the walls of the center sections with the live rock and sand will be in order to be able to slid in some of those white sheets that have the sq. holes in it so that i can place several sheets in to the sump covered in algae. and like i said i can slid them out to cut the algae when i need to. and all layers and get light keeping it from dieing off.....
