hey guyz
i recently purchased a female p14/leo and a male leo i have them coming home next week i am setting up a 155gl grow out tank and it is a brand new tank. Now i no wat ur thinking and yes its too late to cycle the tank before they get here but i will have them in my 75gl quartine tank for about 2 weeks before putting them in that tank. Now what best way should i go about cycling the tank?I no there is only a few ways of cycling tanks but i am looking for the most effective for the time that i have. The filtration will be 2 fx5s leading to my next ? what medias should i use? Tank mates will be blue base crossback aro, zebra pleco,3 loaches,5 frontosas.the route i was thinking of goin to establish the tank was to do a 30% water change from my running 200gl into my 155gl and add 2 sponges from the 200gl fx5 into the 155 fx 5s will this work to my advantage the way i am hoping it will?
pre thx for the input

I would take 60%, a good waterchange for the 200 also ;) 60% of a 200gall is prolly around 70-75% of the 155.. You can take half of the sponges into the new filter(bio media will still have alot of bacterie. The remaining half you can clean out in a bucked, and empy it around the inntakes of the second fx5.. Thats what i would do.. What do you have in the 200? I would take 60% water becouse the bacterie is sensitive to new waters aswell, and they can fall drastic.

i would take a gravel transplant from an established tank.

Would definitely transfer as much water as you can out of your 200 into the 155 and move some of the filters over, that will help with the cycle. Nitromax does wonders and is safe with stingrays. I would also keep some AmmoLock on standby incase you need it. A couple doses of nitromax and the bacteria from your 200 should have you cycled pretty quick.

great advise thx guyz i am just about to put water in now ill post some pics when i got her all filled up and some tester fishes thx guyz.

use seachem stability on the new tank i used that on my new tank 1 week before moving all my fish over with no problems

i added some old filter media added the stability then put the fish in

seachem say you can put in fish 48 hours after adding but i would still leave it a week to be safe
