i got him 3 1/2 years ago when he was only 2 inches long. now he never eats on his own. im trying to keep the water warm w/ the 75 watt bulb on about 10 hrs a day. Water is around 65-70. I turn it off at night, any advice on how to offer him food?

I think WC is right they need land . I think maybe its just not warm enough for him, imsure that another PM owner will chime in soon enough.

WOW, keeping it for that long and you still dont know how to take care of it. I wish these animals where harder to keep and would die on the slitest change. Anyways, your frog need dirt. 4 inches of pure dirt. These animals dig. And last I checked, its not easy digging in water. Your animal only needs a water bowl big enough for it to sit in. What are you feeding it? This animal should be fed bugs. You should have more plants and a cave for it aswell. Do some research.

I've never kept one, but I'd figure an inch and a half to two inches of coconut fiber with some damp sphagnum moss on top would work pretty well. They come from Argentina and Brazil, so find out how hot it gets where they live and keep him that temperature in the day. And feed it hopper mice and gutloaded crickets. Lots of people feed their frogs pinky mice but pinkies have a high fat content which can lead to debilitating illnesses in frogs, especially frogs that aren't kept warm enough. Good luck, man.

Do think anyone is going to listen to you if you are rude and condescending? You don't help anyone, the animal or the owner, by acting this way.

You are not perfect, everyone makes mistakes, try to help them NOT DISRESPECT THEM!!

Of course I help people. Every responce is information. When your not hard on people, they dont listen. Being all nice and easy doesnt get anyone anywhere. Im the only strict one here who can see that. Im not mean, but just do it!

I don't like derailing threads, but I have to add something. Z, reasonable people will usually listen without being insulted. In fact, if I were to ask for advice on something, I'd be a hell of a lot more likely to heed the advice of someone who treats me respectfully. Honestly, your posts usually sound (to me at least) a lot more like a whimsically dictatorial iron fist rather than well-thought-out advice.

all bickering aside, the pacman frogs really do need a hefty layer of coconut shavings to bury themselves in. The relative humidity needs to be fairly high, but not to the point where the coconut is soaked, and the bottom starts to rot/decay. A small water dish at one end will help, if it feels it needs more hydration. You could even put baby guppies in the water dish for it to eat. Mine only ate gut-loaded crickets, grasshoppers, and live pinky mice. Get a couple small terrestrial/tropical plants for added decor and shaded area for it to rest if need be.

I've had these guys before...very easy to care for. you have the setup wrong! you should use bed-a-beast or the coconut fiber as the substrate. make sure it can bury itself completely and keep an accessible bowl of water that isn't too deep or it will drown! Mist the bed-a-beast depending on how dry ur area is. it will take up to a week for it to start eating if it's new. gluck! for more info go to kingsnake.com
