I've never had a pacu before so this may seem like a no brainer but i don't know much about them. I know they can get really big and i do have a big tank on the way so no need to worry about that. Right now i have 3 of them at 4" a piece and they swim back in forth in there 125 but just the other day i was watching them swim (This was the first day i actually sat down and watched them swim focusing in on them) and they were swimming sideways. Is that normal? They play follow the leader and swim back and forth and they all swim on there side. I thought it might just be from when they're eating but it's all the time. They look healthy. So what's up with them? Is it normal?

my pacu does the same thing specially when its near the other fish he kinda goes on his/her side like hes trying to keep an eye on em or something i dont believe anything is wrong with your pacu

I think it's ok too. Because when he's just sitting still it's upright. But when all 3 start swimming they all go to there side.

I don't think it's the swim bladder. Because, yes, it may seem like that when there swimming on there side. But shouldn't they be on there side all the time? It's only when they're swimming do they go on there side.

Are they stressed at all. When I had to move my 12 inch pacu to another home, I put it in a cooler to transfer. It laid sideways the whole trip and I thought it was dead but I think the stress made it go sideways because once I put it in the new tank, he became upright again, The Doctor.
