hi; i have a 4" pacu with me that I raised since 8weeks ago when it was less then an inch.

But he was being bullied on since the day I palced him in the tank. First the tiny bluegill, then the tinfoil barb.
But now he's the biggest fish in the tank and it's different now. He is picking on them back as revenge I guess, but will he start to calm down as he gets bigger?

He is starting to actually chase others around and nip on the oscar.

Do you think I can separate him in a different tank for awhile as a timeout and pace him back? Or will he still be aggresive?

He was such a nice little guy but the stupid bully barb had to pick on him....

lol that nothin...bu what size is the pacu in? he'll get to 3' pretty soon..well not so soon but to 2' yea...i think if you keep him seperated he will just gain more aggression towards the others....but it may not turn into that direction...ya never know...but i may have just gotten aggressive for being in a small tank...when very peacful fishes go aggressive that just the fish trying to tell you it needs more room and needs to be moved onto a larger aquarium...

i've seen pacu turn on each other as they got too big for the tank. They would maim, not kill

its all about tank size, they are like aquatic cows they are harmless unless you are not providing what they need. Then they are monsters.

yea me too i seen 2 pacus at this one LFS near my house the other day when they lip locked i guessed...both lost their top front lip and bottom lip and all you could see were their teeth...nasty **** bro....and then were just hella black and not dark grey with a too dark red belly

yup i completely agree...unless you can provide them with large aquariums...they shouldnt be bought at all if one person cannot care for it for life....they are not pets they you buy at a store then when your done and cant take care of them anymore you send them to a public aquarium or the LFS which some put them to sleep...or just sell them to kids with 10 gallon aquarium which are only good for like what...some guppies and tetras...

Tank space-Sure it contributes-
But not a solid answer to this problem-

I disagree, fish have many ways of solving problems they start out with warning signals and then they retreat and do this all over again, if the tank were too small then there is no room for this and its an all out fight to the death.

He's in a 100gallon tank right now.
and will be moved into the neighbor's tropical pond when he hits around 12"

It's just happens after feeding time, the other times he balls up in the corner doing nothing.

he is around 4" so I havn't tried any veggies or fruits yet. I was going to when he hits around 6 or 7". Should I start now?
Currently he swallows tetra crisps; cichlid pellets; hikari sinking carnivore pellet and wafer. algae wafers and tetra sinking tablets.
And also freeze-dried krill and bloodworms
