way down far
hay all just piked up a couple 3-4'' red bellie pacus and just wondering the growth rate on these guys as they need to be atleast 10''+ before they can go in my main tank and any foods youd recomend to bulk them up quick
cheers:headbang2

You don't need to bulk them up, they do just fine all by themselves. About two inches a month til 12 inches then they slow. Hope that main tank is a monster. Just wanted to be first to say it.

Mine grew around 2.5 a month, but it depends on what you feed him. I feed mine nuts, vegetables, cichlid staple, and catfood. Ive had mine for maybe a year now and its pushing 17 in.

rory you better have a massive tank because these guys are tank busters who grow at an alarming rate.

thats about right for a pacu. from the size of a quarter to 16" or even 20" in a year with even half decent care and food. the bulk of that growth comes during a spurt, that starts around 8" or so, and they will grow at an insanely fast rate. you can honest to god notice the size difference DAY TO DAY.

when you say you have several red bellies, i hope you also have a several thousand gallon tank, and the ability to feed them a few POUNDS of food per week
