Our Pacu is over 20" and is laying on the bottom of the tank on her side. She has some fin rot on her dorsal fin.
On Saturday we moved and she was susposed to go to a new home so we did not have her tank set up. We had to put her in a big rubbermaid container with a filter. We finally got her tank up last night and waited overnight for the temperatureto come up and put her in this morning, so stree is clearly an issue. While she was in the rubbermaid container she layed on her side the whole time and there was a layer of slime on the top of the water even though there was filteration. This is when her dorsal fin started to fray and there are red lines through the fin as well. We have started using Melafix, but I am not sure if thats what I should be using. We have never had a sick fish and the water tests are all good Ammonia=0, Nitrites=0, Nitrates=0, pH= 6.8, temperature 72. I am not sure what to do. Should I just let her lay on her side until she gets better/ or dies. or should I try to get her up somehow? Any answers would be greatly appreciated.
