I don't think they should be illegal in southern states. But I do believe yet shouldn't be as easy to aquifer as they are.
I mean come on, they're $7 at PETSMART...
I think that only specialty fish stores should be able to carry them, that alone would help solve the problem.
Or even create a system where you need to get a permit to own them.

I've had Pacus, and I was one of the lucky ones who was able to find a home for them when they got too big.

interesting... and really silly..and sad

There is another thread about this news. As I posted there....Same thing happened in my town. There have been fishermen that have caught big Pacus near the power plant here in the delaware river in Trenton NJ. Some idiot must of released them in the river when they got big. They should not buy if they cant keep them.

I'm sure he could've found a store to take it off his hand

When I was trying to get rid of my two 18-20" pacus, I called every store within 100 miles, and all of them said the same thing... "Yeah sure, we adopt fish. What is it that you have?.... Oh... We don't take those"
I literally called over 20 fish stores and none of them would take them.
It's the one fish that no pone wants, so it's really not that simple.
