I read the sticky and it probably couldn't be easier, but I just don't have the experience with it to be 100% I think pacu, but he destroyed all his tank mates and ate them, and won't eat any veggies.

This is not my tank, its my brother in-law who wouldn't know better. If possible can I get an ID, thank you for your time.

Looks like a pacu to me. How big is it and how big is the tank?

Pacu are at least highly social and probably a schooling species. If housed singly it would be rather stressed.

55 gal tank, its 8 inches, I know 55 won't cut it, he grew up with the pleco and discus, both dead. He bought it from LFS. He is in his tank solo now.

Definitely Pacu.. They are equal opertunity eaters. When young they turn on tank mates for lack of other pacu. When they are older some turn on each other. He will get huge regardless of tank size!!!!

Hope this helps,
Chris

No it won't, it will get to about 8-10 inches, then just get more and more deformed as it ages. See the 4th and 5th pics on this page for a good example: http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=357225
