I wanted to share a story about my red belly pacu, Tobias and hope this is the right place to put it.
Well, we bought a Jack Dempsey for our tank and a tiny oscar for my brother in law for watching our kids about two weeks ago. My brother-in-law decided he didn't want to put the oscar in his tank yet because he was having problems with water quality so we brought it home with us. I didn't think it would be a good idea to put in in our tank because of his size, about 1 1/2". But my husband decided to try since we didn't have another tank and couldn't leave him in the bag. He let the JD out first and our oscars didn't go after him then my husband let the baby oscar go and as soon as he was in the tank our smaller oscar (Goldie) went for him. So my husband shooed him away with the net, this upset Tobias because he doesn't like my husband putting things in the tank. Devin had to chase both oscars away a few times. I didn't say 'I told you so' just offered to go and get another tank or divider. As I was walking into the store he called me and said 'your not going to believe this' my first thought was that Tobias had eaten the baby. Devin said 'your fish is keeping the oscars in their corner and won't let them out. ' I laughed and couldn't wait to get home and see for myself. When I got back and as soon as Tobias saw me he did his customary body wiggle and looked at the oscars and swam over to the other side of the tank to 'check on' the baby and swam back over to the big ones faced out towards me again did his little wiggle. I could have sworn he was smiling. He just looked sooo pleased with himself and happy. We took the little guy, JD, pink gourami, and male blue gourami(because someone probably Princess tried to make a meal out of him while we were gone) and put them in the new tank. Tobias kept Goldie and Princess in their corner until the next afternoon. Now my husband understands why I love my Tobias so much.

Thanks for sharing your story, I wonder how intelligent pacus really are.
