how big of a tank do pacus need or can they live in a pond

pond is better suited for them but if it's red pacu I would think 10'long by 40" wide tank or black pacu somewhere 12'x5' wide or larger..

Something along the lines of a small swimming pool should suffice.

I had 2, 10 inch red pacus that out grew their 100 gallon tank in a year. So in the summer I put them in my turtle pond. By the end of October when I caught them they were both over 14 inches. To tell you the truth, I don't know why they sell these fish. I had to give them to the LPS for free because nobody really wants them. You seriously need a pond to keep them in.

Agreed, to many of these fish are sold to minnors and ignorant people who simply don't care about fish. I wanna beat people like that.

I would say something pool size is your best bet. Remember a healthy pacu will weigh over 40 lbs and grow in excess of 3 feet.

Becoz some guys think that it is the relative of the pirahna, so they think that these guys are small. But compare to pirahna, they are peaceful, but depending of what you feed them. Some guys feed them live feeders, so they become more agrresive, but if they feed them vegstables like peas, zuccini ect. they can be docile.
