Can a Pacu go with my silver aro, clown knives and Florida gar? I saw these fish at Petsmart and it is the only fish close enough to a pirahna that I can keep in this state. They seem to have a very strong set of teeth. They are herbivores, right?

pacus are fin nippers i wouldn't recommend it unless you have a very large tank

not to mention they get over 2 feet and over 30 lbs so you need a big tank just to handle their bioload and swimming space. They also spook easily and a fish that big will scare the crap out of everything in the tank.

ck get over 4ft but take many years to do so. usually hit around 2ft within 2 years or so. aro's hit 2ft within 2 years, pacu's jus keep growing. it can be down if ur tank is large enough and ur filtration can handle it but damn, pacu's are weird crazy fish. i have gars with my aros, no problems there.

ps. dont let pacu's "herbavior" crap get u confused, i had a pacu for 4 years and it was over 2ft long, and that thing ate 3 full grown oscars. i have no freakin idea how or why, but i woke up one morning and saw a head of one of my 3 oscars and the pacu was still munchin on it. few weeks later he took down the 2nd one, few weeks later he killed off the 3rd one. which is why i got rid of him and haven't owned a pacu since... those things jus get big and quick and when they spook, they break things. heaters, filter intakes, lids... pacu = suck in my opinion unless u got a tank/pond/pool for them

pacus are omnivores and enjoy meaty foods as well as fruits and veggies. Mine never bothered any other fish or their fins. However my 2 redbellied pacus were about twice the size of the ones in the picture in this thread and reached that proportion in about 3 years. Unfortunatley I had to kill them and I sold them for food because they did not stop growing and outgrew what I had.

Or if you are Zoodiver and you are getting like 20 adults for your 145,000 gallon Amazon tank, then pacu are awesome (with Silvers and a gigas)

Thanks everyone, they are just so small in the fish store. I can't keep one because I only have a 120. I don't want my gar to grow as big as the one in the picture but he eats every day. He takes the shrimp that I am feeding the Aro and clown knives.
