Pacu

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It is possible to breed them in captivity. But if you want to breed them at home, you'll have to be really open to the idea of what counts as a 'home tank'. I can only think of a handful who have room for an adult pacu. And once you have that covered, you'll need a group of adults.

i know someone who breeds them in a HUGE outdoor pool size enlosure. i dont whats his secret though, but ive seen his breeder they are monsters!

I was more asking the question cuz i dont want them to breed. I have two now and I want to put them in the same tank but I dont know how i would handle even a dozen 3 ft monsters cuz two is already pushing it.

they won't just breed in a standard aquarium setup, a lot needs to be considered with size etc

nah dont be concerned about them breeding in ur aquarium then.

yeah you should be fine.

if they do by chance happen to breed just siphon the eggs up. I can imagine it would be horrible trying to get rid of all those monsters. you would need a huge tank for them to breed and still it probably would be tricky.

if u do breed them in the hme aquarium you would join a very elite group i would imagine. The person i know was only the second in the us o breed them and he uses a HUUUUGEEEE man made lake style pond for them to breed in.
