hi breeders iv got two pacu ,red tiger oscar ,flowerhorn, rainbow snakehead in my tank and
the sand in my tank keeps getting moved around, pushed up into piles and someone mentioned that it could be one of my two pacu preparing to breed .
any ideas if this is correct

It is very unlikely that your pacu will breed in an aquarium. Many fish move sand and gravel around.

I would say ur most likely culprit is ur flowerhorn. pacu will not breed at a small size nor in a small space

my pacu did the same thing in my 125 and were not breeding. seemed like they did not like a flat bottom lol

I am interested in Pacus. Do you know the age and size a pair would breed provided they had a 1000 gal tank? Reference material would be helpful. Can't find anything on Pacus breeding.

Ive seen them as small as 8" breed. i say as small because for a pacu thats baby sized lol. 1000g sound ok but depends on the dimensions. lots of swimming space. round ponds or wide setups seem to be great. be aware pacus get massive it one hell of a breeding project requiring quite some space for breeding full grown adults.

Pacu have been induced to spawn in research facilities by injecting hormones in the female.
