How big do they really get? What size of aquarium? Do different pacus (black or redbelly) grow to different sizes?

:feedback:

THERE ALL HUGE ill tell u that much and a HUGE aquarium is needed for em, pacus are tankbusters man ive heard of them getting MONSTER SIZES like 30" max for black pacus + there tall and fat that just adds to thier hugeness

Pacus are great fish to keep but only if you have the room to house them. They grow very rapidly and become skittish it tight quarters so plan accordingly. They are a true "personality" fish. Reds have the potential to get 2-3 feet and blacks 3-4 feet or larger.

they grow super fast too! Mine has grown at least 2" in about a month and a half. Also a word of warning t,hey can be mean too -nipping fins ,tails ,sides ect .Id make sure, if you get one ,that what ever fish you put w/ it can stand up for itself.

There monsters theyll grow an grow. I stopped getting them because they out grew my tanks. Plus theyll break heaters when they swin an get some speed up.

all they do is eat swim and poop.. the tank that they are in is the nastiest tank water i have.. i think the reason i hate them so much is because my cousin sold then to me as piranhas.. before i knew better.. they are taking up my big tank so i cant buy any monster fish..

They're destructive too....I had one that broke at least two heaters just from freaking out when I walked into the fish room. You're much more apt to find the redbelly pacu than anything else. Black pacu are rare in the trade...I use to have a couple and they grew like weeds until they died in a power outtage.
