Saying; 'the fish probly are dead as paddles are a basking fish just like whale sharks and will eat small fish if they are starving' is not being accurate about either species. Whale sharks have been documented on video feeding on fish up to several pounds (Blue Planet). The same goes for paddlefish. I've raised this species and observed all of the individual paddles feeding on orfs and minnows once they reached roughly 15" in total body length. These fish were routinely grabbed up even when the water was filled with live Daphnia magna, plankton, and krill.

thats why you shouldn't speak about/ give advise on fish you have never had exp. with...cause you don't know how a fish sp. is till you have it in your tank for many years...i have people that live by me and i quote "my clown fish, ya know nemo, died after a day in my tank...my common pleco is doing great though"....then i said "you have a saltwater tank and a freshwater tank?"...reply "saltwater?!?"...that same person was telling another guy at the lfs.."don't get those ones the die fast and you lose your money!"...i personaly don't want that guy answering my questions on here...so don't be that guy...

ok sorry i wont give any advice on fish i have not ownd but i didnt know krill could live in a fresh water tanks

Paddles will readily feed on freeze-dried plankton including plankton laying on the surface. They line up on floating foods and flip belly-up to take the food as they pass it.

i have never seen them filp to feed before...interesting...

I expected them to do the "sturgeon hop" of bobbing their heads straight up and down as with, of course, sturgeon. But, at 5" one did a roll-over to get to the floating food. And, soon, the rest were performing the same feeding behavior. I've had 3 separate batches take up the same feeding style.
