Just finished building my canopy and was wondering is there a specific type/brand of paint I should use to prevent water damage? The interior will be white, the exterior black.
I'm doing some reading and it sounds like I'll need to stain the canopy as well?
"tub&tile or swimming pool 2-part epoxies work very well and dry hard/non-toxic. Or Else, any baby safe latex paint that you coat with polyurethane will be fine if above water."
Still looking for some help here. I was hoping someone would respond with an answer since I had the day off to go and get supplies to paint. Since I wasn't exactly sure what type of paint to get I didn't wana rush off and buy the wrong stuff.
you're canopy isn't going to be in the water so you don't need any expensive epoxy paint, although obviously that is the best option. You can get away with any exterior paint but personally I would use some kind of sealer primer on the wood before you paint it.
I have just built my canopy also, and I am going to paint it with either 100% epoxy (white) or just use the same gel coat that I painted the inside of my plywood tank with......I'm not sure yet.
But as tthanatoss said, it's no under the water so you just need to seal the wood from the condensation or water splashes.
