Just to be clear: the term "painted" is used in an attempt to spare the feelings of potential buyers, who might be justifiably horrified if they knew that the "paint" is a dye that is injected into the fish, not just slathered on the outside. This disgusting practice ranks right up there with docked ears and tails on certain dog breeds, or de-clawed cats.
The sooner people boycott these poor critters, the sooner this inhumane barbarism will fade from the marketplace...hopefully.
And, please, whatever you do...don't buy it in hopes of "rescuing" it. You will just be encouraging the greedy marketers to create more.
