painted granite back ground idea

I wanted a painted back ground, but not just black or blue. So i went the the hardware store and found this " stone creations" looks like granite.
It's hard to get a good pic, but I'll show you what I have.

I had the same idea... only my tank is full and I cant at the moment. Did you use an airbrush?

first was 3 thin coats of "stone creations" shown in pic below, then covered the whole thing in black.
it's really hard to get a good pic till it's full of water but that will be soon I hope.
